biography

Born in Kent, I studied at the Kent Insitute of Art and Design for four years, qualifying in Interior Design. I experienced a diverse design career including appointments with architects, exhibition organisers, and graphic designers before going on to form my own design business.

My free time was spent painting personal studies from nature and landscape and, during a career break to tend the needs of a growing family, I became wholly focused on developing my painting further.

This ignited a passion which, with the encouragement of making sales, has become my main occupation.

I now work predominantly in acrylic and pastel and paint landscapes and still life subjects, often making a close study of anything that grabs my attention. My paintings are inspired by colour, light, and nature and their transition through the seasons, and are undoubtedly influenced by my design background. I aim to capture an immediate response to a subject without being loyal to any one style. This keeps my work fresh and exciting to me and, I hope, the viewer.

I now exhibit in galleries throughout the south east, contribute to local exhibitions, and hold open weekends at my studio. My work is held in private collections in the UK and as far afield as New Zealand.

I hope you enjoy looking at my work and please feel free to contact me with any queries you may have.
